Up North in the Fall

Every Fall, my parents like to drive up to the North Shore to see all the beautiful colors of the changing leaves. This year, Andrew and I were the only ones who were able to accompany my parents Up North. My mom rode up with me and my dad followed up later in the evening. We drove through Duluth (traffic was down to one lane and just crazy!), passed Two Harbors, continued on to Silver Bay, kept going until we reached our destination in a little town called Schroeder, MN. Here in Schroeder we stayed at a very nice resort/hotel called Superior Ridge

me and my morning coffee are rarely parted :o) Below is a picture of the room Andrew and I stayed in.
my mom said that she would watch Drew while Dad and I packed up the cars. When I came into the room to get some of the suitcases, I found Drew with a cord to my mom's curlers in his mouth! My next trip to the room revealed Drew with a curler in his mouth. My mom said it was keeping him occupied.

my parents treated me to breakfast at our favorite spot - the Blue Water Cafe in Grand Marais. A big omelet, 2 pancakes generously filled with wild blueberries, coffee and grapefruit juice . . . I'm already excited for next year!

my mom loves the Ben Franklin store in Grand Marais, so we darted in there before going for our hike and my mom bought Drew a little hooded sweatshirt.

when we reached the Cascade Falls where we were going to go hiking, I was going to put my purse in the trunk and lock up the car, however, because my mom works at a bank and see a lot of fraud & forgery cases, she insisted that we take our purses with us on the hike! :o) Below you can see the serious hikers (who look more like shoppers :o)

we had a blast Up North and I am so thankful that the Lord gives us these Fall colors to enjoy. Fall is one of my favorite seasons!! I love the crunch of the leaves under your feet, wearing warm sweaters, drinking hot beverages, football and apple picking. God has given us so many wonderful things to see and enjoy! He is so good! -Marilyn
